Modestus Anyanwu Nwaulu is a community development practitioner with over 10 years’ experience in programme design and implementation. A skilled development strategist with core competence in developing and implementing social-impact and community programmes. Some of the works executed by him include; grant administration (MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, TY Danjuma Foundation, etc). Others are community engagement projects for ExxonMobil in (Eket and Onah in Akwa Ibom State). He has also successfully executed youth empowerment projects funded by Citi Foundation, BOI, and Heritage Bank in Ajegunle community of Lagos state. He also implemented another youth empowerment project in Delta State funded by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and supported by BOI, NLNG, and Arts of Living Foundation in India. 400 youths were positively impacted. In addition, he has experience in strategy formulation for startups and fieldwork activities for youth employment. He is passionate about youth development and employment, community development, leadership, entrepreneurship, gender, education, good governance, peace building and healthy environment.
He has worked for CVL (Centre for Values in Leadership) for nine years. He started as a project officer and rose to the position of General Manager for programmes. As the Programmes General Manager, he coordinated all the programmes of the Centre including; training, programmes, fieldwork and community engagement. He worked with other team leads for strategies and new initiatives for the sustainability of the organization.
Modestus attended Primary School Awarra and St Peter Claver Seminary Okpala for his secondary education and was one of the best students in his class in academic and character. He graduated with first class honours in Philosophy from Imo State University in 2002. He also obtained a Masters degree in Philosophy from University of Lagos in 2017. He has a certificate in Social Sector Management (SSM) from Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan Atlantic University Lagos. He has undergone different training programmes, some of which are; Planning for Climate Change in Africa; Project Management; Leadership; Entrepreneurship; Power up for Success and others.
He founded Foundation for Social- Development of African Communities for Peaceful Co-existence (SEDAC Foundation) where he currently serves as the Director of Programmes and Administration.
